OTT: Over the top

Front garden installation in collaboration with Mike Edwards at Redbridge Lane West, E11
September – November 2014
The expression O.T.T, as an abbreviation of ‘over the top’, in popular usage means something that is inappropriate, outrageous or extreme. For soldiers in the First World War, being ordered to go “over the top” meant leaving the relative safety of their trenches and risk being killed by the enemy in no man’s land.
The public were invited to add poppies to the work for Remembrance Day 2014.
